Deb and I met at the end of Summer in 2017. Right from the beginning we realised we had so much in common and wanted the same things from life.    We both enjoy the outdoors. From hiking trails to flying kites on a beach. From camping to kayaking. Anything simple that involves the outdoors is our thing.

Early in 2019 we bought an RV. I have been camping in RV's my whole life. But for Deb this was a major upgrade from the tent camping that she was used to. As time went on we started making plans for our retirement.  At this time I only had 6 years to work before I could retire. So the plan was to use the RV on weekends and vacations close to home. And sell everything and travel full time in the RV when i retired. Then COVID hit.

With the boarders closed and so many Full-timers being stuck without a place to stay, we took note of this and started to re evaluate our plans. What if another pandemic hits and we are fulltime? what would we do? where would we go?  So our plans shifted from fulltime RV'ers to buying a small parcel of land, living in the RV on the land when we are not traveling. It was the best of both worlds. We would still be full-timers, still be able to travel when ever we wanted and have a home base to hide on if the world fell apart again.

Well COVID came and went, we sat back and watch everything fall apart, the cost of everything coastally get more expensive and the political world become more and more uncertain. So once again we re evaluated our plans. After a lot of conversations we have come to the conclusion that we both feel a homestead is where we belong. I have a major passion for growing produce and Deb's passion is animals.

Our new plan is to buy some property, Build a small house, a large garden and have some animals that will provide food for us. A bonus to this is we are going to supplement our retirement income from a small farm stand at the end of the driveway.

We know taking raw land and making it into a homestead is a lot of work. And that farming in general is a lot of work. We both have farming in our backgrounds. Its not going to be easy. But we are looking forward to it.

Thanks For reading.
Ken
